NEW YORK (AP) Samsung Electronics will unveil a new phone with a palm-sized stylus and a touch-screen in New Year’s Eve.
The phone, called the Samsung Galaxy S8, will debut in New Jersey’s Central Park in New Orleans and New York’s Times Square on New Year the day after the holidays, the company announced Friday.
The phone will go on sale at a later date.
Samsung is selling the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones, which are also made by Samsung Electronics.
The S8 is the first phone to have a stylus in the palm of its hand.
Samsung also said the S8 will have “three” cameras, a fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot.
It’s the latest move in the smartphone battle between Apple and Samsung, with Apple calling the stylus a “safer, safer way to type” and Samsung arguing it’s “not even close” to having a good user experience.
The phones are both $399 and $199.
