Posted September 25, 2018 06:25:51 The National Police Commissioner has ordered the arrest of a former Metropolitan Police officer in connection with the death of a teenage girl.
A video shows James Ward, 37, who has been arrested in London on Wednesday.
Police have charged Ward with manslaughter over the death.
Police say the girl’s family and Ward’s wife were in a taxi on the morning of the death when the taxi driver noticed a woman sitting on a seat and asked if she needed help.
The woman was taken to hospital where she died.
The video, which has been posted on YouTube, shows Ward taking the girl to a nearby building.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told The Independent the woman’s family have not been informed of the arrest.
It’s not clear if the girl was in Ward’s taxi or not.
Ward has been a Metropolitan Police police officer since 2011 and has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
He was also placed on leave in July after being charged with sexually assaulting a girl.
He denied the allegations, saying they were “ridiculous”.
Ward is expected to appear in court on September 28.
